When You Can't Make it to the GymReturn to Article LibraryLet's face it. We all get busy from time to time. Whether family, career, or just life in general are at the root of it, its bound to happen at one time or another. For some of us its just a temporary situation, yet for others its how it is each and every day. So how do you get your workout in when its just not feasible to go to the gym either for a short period of time or just in general? Simple. You improvise. ...And I'm here to teach you how. Although I strongly recommend becoming a gym or health club member, the truth is that its not necessary to get what you need done, it just makes it a lot easier and takes the responsibility of setting it all up off of you. Yet if you are the type who either out of necessity or just personal style would rather avoid having to do the gym thing, here's how you make Your Best Body work for you. Cardio There are two courses of action that you can take here. One is to get a cardio machine for home. Whether a treadmill, elliptical machine, ski machine, stationary bike, or what have you, there are many options on getting a great machine that can fit comfortably into your garage or extra space around the house. Most of these machines are available for prices that range from a couple hundred bucks to a couple thousand depending on what you are willing and able to spend. If that's not a viable option for you, another way to attack the issue of cardio at home is to use your surroundings. If you live in apartment complex, there may be a cardio machine that is available for your use there. Also you may want to consider using walking or jogging to focus your cardio on (jogging is tough on the joints so watch out for doing it too much), or get a bicycle or roller blades which can run anywhere from $40 to the low hundreds. For all but bicycling, the nearest high school track may be a place that you go to get your exercise. Many of them are open in the mornings and evenings to neighborhood residents, and they generally keep the lights on in the evening. Working out To tackle this end of your program, you can also go with the home equipment option that was mentioned in the cardio section. Most reputable home gyms can do enough of the exercises in the program to give you a complete workout. And again there is always the possibility of the on-site gym for apartment residents. To supplement this, or even if its all that you do, you can focus on bodyweight movements like pushups and go out and get a few sets of dumbbells without breaking the bank and stick with the dumbbell movements of which there are plenty in the program. In order to help you with this challenge, we've put together the exercise at home program for our members. It may also be a good idea to get a workout bench as well. All of the above can be done very affordably No matter what your personal preference or situation, there is a viable way to get the results that you are looking for even if the gym is either a place that you can't get to or just don't want to be. |
